During his career, Roy maintained a general practice with the Law Office of John F. Lyndon and opened a private practice specializing in family law and divorce litigation. While in private practice, Roy became a registered neutral and arbitrator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.

After incorporating mediation into his law practice, he founded Finch Mediation and Arbitration Services. Roy has conducted over 1000 divorce and family law mediations throughout Georgia and the metropolitan Atlanta area.
